Finding Our Way Back To Health

Have you ever screamed so loud that the room echoed?

Posted by honib1 on September 19, 2007

Sometimes that is how I feel on the inside.. that I am constantly screaming at myself.. don’t eat that?  don’t do that? are you crazy?  I get so upset that I am so willing to torment myself over a choice I make.. Eating.. I make the choice to eat… I make the choice to eat healthy… I make the choice to eat not so healthy… yet let some purveyor of some false truth whisper in my ear… ( okay scream at me on my tv) … and I am right there listening to what I need to change about myself.. and if I would only stand on my head 3 times a day.. and eat prunes at every meal .. then I too can  lose 99 pounds in  99 minutes… or less if I am really good.

I was perusing the internet today and came across many a harsh article about some bizzare weight loss scam called KIMKINS.. full of bad advice… full of misleading information and full of crap. Yet those of us out there.. looking searching… hunting for something to push us along… we are attracted to such rubish like a moth to flame. Why are we easily swayed… why?  why can’t we simply believe in the power of ourselves to change our own destiny..? Why do we believe that we are not in control of what we choose to eat.. ? why do we believe that a obvious scam holds all the answers.. when in truth.. the mirror.. ( the deep mirror not the vanity mirror) holds the answers.. we just have to bold enough to really look.. and really see ourselves.. weaknesses and all… brush that aside and have faith in ourselves.. that each of us.. can succeed by eating a nutritionally balanced program.. by exercising as much as we can with in reason.. by praising ourselves for our accomplishments on a consistant basis.  That is really what the echoing scream should be.  We can do this.. We can do this right.. if we believe and really want  this.. want this change in ourselves… we can do this.. by our own might. By our own will and by our own outward effort..not by Kimkins… or slimkins.. or that kins or this kins.. but from deep with in ourselves.. surrounded by those who know the war… and love us regardless.

  Wish me well

Wish you well too…

wow, I’ve heard of Kimkins, and it’s scary.

I agree that we have a lot of control over our lives, but also see a lot of the new (valid, medical) research coming out on obesity and know that there are some people who are going to have a rougher go of things than others… But that we also have to remember that medical care is also something we have a choice about.

    honiB, yes, I’ve screamed.

And I too am so upset at the fools posting “reel them in” posts about Kimkins, seeking more lambs to send to the diet slaughterhouse. It’s painful. I know what it is to get desperate and want ANYTHING that helps. But so far, I’ve avoided scammy stuff–so far!–and I hope to keep my head. And I don’t want other people as heart-sick over their weight as I am to just follow anything or anyone. I want us to get well and get slimmer and live good lives.

I’ve posted on my blog previously recently on Kimmer the Scammer, and I sincerely hope the rest of the members see the light and STOP creating new blogs just to get folks into this dangerous plan. I’m tired of heavy people being picked on, even by other heavy people (ie Kimmer). Life is cruel enough to us.

So, we’ll support each other and love each other to better health. This is a hard path. It takes a lot of habit changes and work. That doesn’t happen easily. We have to stop falling for the promises of “superfast weight loss” and look for “superhealthy weight loss even if it’s not the fastest.”

And when the liars and hurting ones come, we’ll call them out and warn people away as best we can! Solidarity!

I can totally relate to screaming out loud some times — I get so tired of the scams and headlines promising a “miracle” for weight loss. What helps me keep going is focusing on the overall health and energy of my body - and not so much on the numbers on the scale. It isn’t easy - and I still battle the frustration, disappointment, and struggles - but I make it a point to work on my thoughts, emotions, choices and not beating myself up as much as I work on what food I chose to eat and not eat.

I did have a chuckle from the last magazine I picked up to read, the headline read - “Miracle Diet - do this one thing and you will lose weight” - of course I had to read it to see what the latest hype is - their advice Count Calories! I laughed out loud — good old fashion basic advice with a new catchy title on a magazine cover. Of course they also said it takes time and to go slow - which unfortunately, too many folks want a quick fix.

Kimkins is almost as scary as those pro-anorexia sites. Both sends shivers down my spine! Eeeeeek!

I wish you well! I wish me well too. I wish everyone well! We Can Do This! Don’t quit! Don’t give up! If you have a bad day, yell, scream, and then do better the next day! Long lasting change happens slowly. I did some calculations and based on my current rate of weight loss, it will take me AT LEAST a year a half to reach my goal. We just gotta keep on keepin’ on and get back on the wagon when we fall off.

It should be about losing the weight HEALTHFULLY, not losing the weight at any cost to our health. I lost weight in a healthy way and still have some good muscle mass to show for it. My hair didn’t fall out and I didn’t feel sluggish.

Let’s all do this the RIGHT way! :)

Thank you for sharing the warning to stay away from the Kimkins Diet.

It really is a dangerous, very low calorie, starvation diet, akin to anorexia.

There are plenty of other healthier ways to lose weight, so please folks, don’t fall for this con. The diet is a dangerous scam and it’s promoter is a fraud. She never lost the weight as she claims to have, and is not the young petite woman pictured in her “after pictures.” She is a nearly 50 year old, morbidly obese woman, taking advantage of those of us who are desperate to lose weight.

If you have been a victim of this scam, you may be eligible to participate in the Kimkins Class Action Lawsuit.

Run, don’t walk, away from the Kimkins Diet.

The “Time Worstall Tabloid Edition” says:

    November 12, 2007
    Kimkins
Kimkins, or the Kimkins diet has been shown up to be just another scam on the unsuspecting.

Heidi “Kimmer” Diaz, the founder of the Kimkin’s diet - a low carb, low calorie diet - is schedule to appear in a Southern California court on Monday, November 12th, 2007. 11 former users of her Kimkins diet program filed a complaint against her one week ago, claiming fraud, false advertising, and unjust enrichment.
The Kimkin’s scandal began when Woman’s World, a popular women’s magazine featured an article on the Kimkin’s diet.

Ms Diaz, who was claiming to have lost 198 pounds in 11 months using her diet plan, refused to meet with the magazine in person, instead corresponding through email. She went so far as to send the magazine before and after pictures that looked nothing alike, which makes sense when people found out that the before pictures were Ms. Diaz, however the after pictures were taken from a Russian ‘mail-order’ bride web site.

The kimkins diet advised eating just 500 calories a day. That less than concentration camp victims were getting:

Kimkins diet followers reported hair loss, menstrual cessation, irregualr heartbeat, fainting spells, and liver damage from the starvation diet scam.

No damn wonder! Let’s hope she’s jailed where she can get a decent diet!

  18. katinsac Says:

Happy 2008 All…Don’t become a stastic of the Kimkins Diet Scam in 2008. I have faith in people and I know that there are a lot of people out there that will do the research and find the horrors of the Kimkins diet, the bannings of “lifetime” members for no reason other than to take their money from them, the no feedback from Kimmer herself on the site as promised and the dangers of the starvation diet that Kimmer (Heidi K. Diaz), who never even lost the weight herself, promotes. Ban Kimkins in 2008 and find a free and safe diet site to support your weight loss efforts in 2008. The year you will succeed WITHOUT Kimkins starvation diet!

  19. katinsac Says:

    Get The Word Out…
I recently took up the cause to “get the word out” about Kimkins.com and the dangers of following this very low calorie diet. Don’t be fooled. Do your research! Kimkins.con is nothing more than a low fat, low carb, low calorie, unhealthy starvation diet that is causing Eating Disorders (EDs) and hair loss in many. This diet was started by a lady who calls herself “Kimmer” and never even lost the weight herself on her own diet. Kimmer even charges $59.95 for her unhealthy starvation diet and offers a “lifetime” membership that gets you banned from her website if you question her about her diet or after pictures. Friends don’t let friends do Kimkins!! Be smart in 2008 and lose weight the right and healthy way!
